Labor Day, celebrated the first Monday of September, is a yearly tribute to the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity and well-being of our country. Traditionally, it also marks the tail-end of summer and is the perfect time for a weekend getaway, a backyard barbecue, or some other relaxing activity.

Here's a few possibilities for fun this Labor Day weekend in and around Long Beach.

The Greek Festival by the Sea

Going to the Greek Festival over Labor Day weekend is a favorite Long Beach tradition. It’s a wonderful event where guests can enjoy an authentic taste of Greece. Sample delicious food from local Greek restaurants, watch live cooking demonstrations and enjoy live Greek music while watching (or participating in, if you know the steps) some authentic Greek dancing. Make sure to bring some spending money and pick up some authentic Greek souvenirs from the vendors. There is also an area with rides and game for kids of all ages. The festival is located at 761 E. Colorado Street and will take place Saturday, September 1 - Monday, September 3. Doors open at noon.
